Re-certification:

The NAFSPTA prides itself on producing coaches that are the gold standard in the industry. Thus, our standard for passing and recertification is strict. Attending/participating alone is not enough to obtain Kettlebell Training Specialist (KBTS) status. The participant must meet the designated criteria connected to the technical and coaching components of the course.

Re-certification Process

We provide Certification training for Level 1, 2 and 3. NAFSPTA requires all three levels of KBTS to update their certification status every two years. This will be based on calendar year (not the actual date). Thus, if you became a KBTS in March 2011, you would need to be re-certified sometime before the end of 2013 by taking a 4-hour kettlebell re-certification workshop.
The objective of the re-certification is continuing education. We are consistently learning and being exposed to new information. Thus, it’s important our coaches stay abreast of updates to the KBTS program and remain on the cutting edge on what’s happening in the fitness world. Upon completion of a re-certification workshop, your KBTS status will be updated for 2 years after your original expiration.

Certificate of quality & assurance:

Candidates who have fulfilled the following criteria will be issued the Professional Kettlebells Level 1 Instructor Certificate (accredited by the CanFitPro) by North America Fitness & Sports Peninsula Training Academy (NAFSPTA) .

  • 100% attendance of the course (a total of 8 hours)
  • Attain a pass mark of 70% on the theoretical and practical examination.

You must meet the following criteria in order to earn your diploma:
1. Exhibit safe and efficient technique in the foundation exercises.
2. Demonstrate good judgment, especially concerning safety.
3. Show a strong spirit.
4. Demonstrate effective teaching skills.
5. Pass the physical exercise test
6. Pass the kettlebell swing, clean, press and snatch test.
7. Abide by the Code of Conduct as fitness or sports professional.

Practical Exam Requirements:

• 3 sets of a 5-minute Kettlebell workout, 1 minute rest in between sets, for a total of 15 minutes.

Theoretical Examination Requirements:

• A take-home exam will be distributed on the first day of the course.
• Candidates will be tested on their knowledge of kettlebell safety, benefits, and the techniques.

The instructor diploma will be awarded to the participants after they have passed the specified requirements. If a participant fails any of the above, he or she will be required to retest for the exam for HKD $500 any time within one year of the conclusion of the certification he or she attended. Special retest arrangement can be made with the NAFSPTA’s representatives.
To prepare for this course, participants should read the Kettlebell Training Manual prior to the course. Participants must bring their own gloves and wrist-band in order to protect their hands and wrists.

Recommended exercise for preparation:

Stretching, squats, dead lifts, pushups, clean, press, crunches, balancing exercise, and cardio workout.

Kettlebell Instructor Certification Training is a tough course because the Fitness or Sports Trainers are supposed to be physically fit, and that they should know and understand the techniques and safety of the kettlebells before they plan to train their clients.
